Robert J. Burch Elementary teamed up to help foster children across the state with a Socktober drive.

Socktober is a service project that Burch hosts during October to collect brand new socks for The Bloom Closet, an organization that supports foster children throughout Georgia.

It was a school-wide initiative, and the Student Lighthouse Team promoted it through posters throughout the school and a video to share what Socktober is. One of the 4th grade teachers even made a video featuring her dogs to help advertise the project.

School counselor Jessica Mull was thrilled to see the school energized by the effort.

“I hope students learn empathy and compassion as they give to others, especially to children their age who may not have the same stability or family circumstances,” she said. “I want them to feel the joy of giving and be inspired to continue helping others.”
