Sisters Empowerment Network, Inc. (SEN) invites the public to the second annual Purple Purse Weekend Wine Down Benefit Concert to eradicate domestic violence and financial abuse.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13, 3-7 p.m. at the Exquisite Private Event Facility in Fayetteville. It is hosted by Sisters Empowerment Network, Inc. Super Sisters.
One in four women will be a victim of domestic violence in her lifetime, and 98 percent of these women are trapped because of the financial control abusers have over them. Financial abuse can occur in the form of restricting access to a spouse’s credit or draining assets once a victim attempts to leave. For women who see their options gradually dwindle, money may be the reason to stay in a relationship or come back after trying to get out.
The Purple Purse Weekend Wine Down event is designed to raise awareness and to get people talking about the issue. The purple purse is symbolic because purple is the color of domestic violence awareness and a purse represents a woman’s financial domain.
The event will include food, live entertainment, wine, information about the SEN’S organization and the history of the purple purse. Feature performances by local and nationally known talent that will keep the crowd entertained throughout the evening. Performers will include Tyrone Jackson, Toni Byrd, Alex Lattimore, Dave Scott, Rhonda Thomas and Will Jaxx.
