I’m Christian Ramos, the secretary of the History Club at Starr’s Mill High School.

Our club started in 2017 with only five members. We’ve had a rapid rise and huge success however, as we now have more than 50 members and last year we were recognized as a top 10 club in the nation by the National History Club.

We also have a successful History Bowl team, which qualified for Nationals in 2019 in only its second year competing. We are planning many events this spring including the following:

A meeting with Johnny Isakson — former US Senator (date TBD)
Student vs Teachers History Bowl Smackdown (March 27)
WWII Heritage Days at Falcon Field (May 2-3)
History Bowl State Meet (March 29)
History Bowl Nationals (April 25-26)

The success of our club largely depends on the involvement of the community. Without their help, our club would not have reached the success it has today, and we are very grateful for that.

Hopefully this year, just as last year, the community can rally behind us again on our path to glory. We hope you, the Fayette Citizen, will join our cause. We look forward to working with you and expanding our club once more. On behalf of the Starr’s Mill History Club, thank you.

Christian Ramos
