A Peachtree City company has been named one of the top suppliers for General Motors for 2012.
TDK Components USA, Inc. was recently presented the GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award. Winners of the award meet or exceed a stringent set of quality performance criteria along with cross-functional support of the entire GM organization, officials said.
In this case, TDK’s product are minuscule in size but huge in impact. The company’s Peachtree City location produces environmentally friendly multilayered chip capacitors among other electronic devices for the automotive, telecommunications, computer and consumer electronic industries.
The multilayered chip capacitors are so small that for quality control they are inspected under a microscope. The capacitors are used often in electronics architecture and are a component of current smartphones.
TDK has been in operation in Peachtree City’s industrial park since 1986.
The award is in line with the company’s quality policy, which states that TDK “is committed to the total satisfaction of our customers through continuous improvement.”
Officials said that is a core belief at TDK and “is embraced by all employees.”
The award was presented by Jane Rochford, GMCH Purchasing Manager to TDK Components President Yoshiaki Ishizu.
