Artists often dream of selling their work in an art gallery – elegant surroundings, the perfect lighting and interested collectors. Having your work in a gallery can make you feel like a legitimate artist. If you are an artist yearning to be “discovered,” the evening of June 7 could hold the key for making that dream come true.
Dogwood Gallery and Framer is the setting for the next meeting of FAACE, Fine Arts and Crafts Entrepreneurs. Co-owner and manager of the gallery, Greg Blair, will give FAACE members and visitors the benefit of his knowledge in a program about getting your artwork into galleries. An artist himself, Greg knows the issue from both sides.
Greg Blair was born in Atlanta and studied Biology at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. During this time his love for drawing shifted toward painting. Using a primary color palette and diverse mediums for contrast, Greg mostly paints figurative pieces.
These forms emerge through coarse brushstrokes and drips utilized in an “action” painting style. His works can be found in numerous corporate and private collections.
In 2007, Greg and his wife, Jennifer, opened Dogwood Gallery & Framer in Tyrone, Georgia. Dogwood represents many local and national artists working in a variety of mediums and styles. Dogwood Gallery is a contemporary art space that has become a major addition to the art scene in South Atlanta. The gallery is a warm and inviting space that has become known for producing an interesting and eclectic body of work.
With a policy of always engaging and challenging the audience, Dogwood Gallery operates a rotating mixed exhibition interspersed with solo and form specific shows. The gallery represents a number of local and national artists working in a variety of mediums.
Paintings, drawings, photography, clay sculpture, and wood carvings are included in the mix. For more information on Dogwood Gallery and framer, go to http://www.dogwoodgallery.net.
