The Newnan Police Dept., Newnan Fire Dept. and Atlanta Gas Light will be conducting a training exercise on Tuesday, Sept. 23. The exercise will take place on East Washington Street, east of the railroad tracks to Murray Street.

A simulated gas line rupture will be created. After this a phone call will be made to the 911 center advising them this is a training exercise at which time they will dispatch police and fire units to the scene.

This exercise will help allow public safety and the gas company to evaluate their responses to this type of scene and to change any practices that may be contradictory to the safety of personnel.

Traffic will be allowed through this area, but could have some delay time.

The hours of the exercise will be from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
