A domestic incident Tuesday morning in Fayetteville resulted in two women being injured and their alleged assailant taken into custody after being followed and stopped by investigators in a vehicle on Ga. Highway 54 West.

Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb said 40-year-old Robert Scott Kelly, of Sharon Drive, Fayetteville, is in custody. No charges had been filed by press time Tuesday.

Babb said it is believed that Kelly assaulted two female relatives at the Sharon Drive residence.

A 911 call from the residence was received mid-morning on Tuesday. Investigators at the scene were given a description of Kelly’s vehicle. He was located and stopped on Hwy. 54 west a short time later, handcuffed and taken into custody, said Babb.

Though details were not immediately available, Babb said the two women were transported to Grady Hospital due to the severity of the injuries they sustained.
