The Southern Crescent Chorale is pleased to be making its eighth appearance at Spivey Hall on February 24 at 3 p.m. with a concert featuring the glorious work “Magnificat” by John Rutter. This piece will be accompanied by Rick Massengale at the world renowned Spivey Hall organ. In addition, the Chorale will perform a number of choral favorites including Dirait-on by Morten Lauridsen, Randall Thompson’s Alleluia, and Song of Exaltation by John Ness Beck.
Guest soprano soloist, Elizabeth Claxton, is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree from Shorter University, and was a member of the Shorter Chorale in which she was a featured soloist, performing Brahms’ Requiem and Carmina Burana across Spain and France. Elizabeth was winner of the Metropolitan Opera nation Council Georgia (2008) Florida (2006) District Auditions, she was also awarded Honorable Mention in the Singer of the Year competition in Shreveport 2008, and was a finalist in Palm Beach 2007. Ms. Claxton will also perform several additional arias for the enjoyment of the audience.
