Fayette Thrift Shop Inc., a cherished non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1990, has officially closed its doors after 34 years of service to the Fayette County community. Over the decades, the thrift shop donated nearly $3 million to local organizations supporting families, children, and individuals in need.

Through the tireless efforts of dedicated volunteers and the loyalty of community patrons, Fayette Thrift Shop made a lasting impact. The shop’s primary charitable partners included the Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence DBA Promise Place and the Fayette Youth Protection Home, a shelter for foster children.

On December 21, 2024, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to dissolve the organization. Following the sale to a local resident, of all assets and inventory, the proceeds of the sale were distributed to a selection of local nonprofit charities to continue the spirit of giving that defined the organization’s mission.

Final donations made in 2025 include:

·        Fayette County Council on Domestic Violence – Promise Place, Fayetteville – $33,000

·        West Georgia Domestic Violence Shelter, Carrollton – $15,000

·        Flint Circuit Council on Family Violence – Haven House, McDonough – $15,000

·        Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center, Fayetteville – $15,000

·        Fayette Samaritans, Fayetteville – $15,000

·        Shriners Hospitals for Children – $15,000

·        A Higher Calling Inc., Men’s Shelter – Griffin – $15,000

·        Coco’s Cupboard, Gay – $15,000

·        Fayette Humane Society – $15,000

In January 2025, a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon was held to honor the many volunteers who made the thrift shop’s success possible. Their generosity, compassion, and commitment were the heart of Fayette Thrift Shop, Inc.

“We are profoundly grateful to our community for 34 years of unwavering support and shared purpose,” said Denise Greene, President of the Board.
