The bilingual Peachtree City congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has new leadership. Bishop Stan Johnson of Peachtree City succeeds Bishop Chris Anderson, who served for five years.

“I have found that serving others brings great personal joy, satisfaction and growth,” Bishop Johnson said. “I am humbled to be asked to serve in this capacity and am so grateful for the many members here who have offered their love and support.”

Bishop Johnson has primary responsibility for the spiritual and temporal needs of members, in addition to organizing Church services and extending service opportunities within the congregation. Serving with Bishop Johnson as counselors to assist with his responsibilities are Peachtree City residents Bob Gardner and Cameron Bradley.

Bishop Johnson and his wife Laura moved to Peachtree City in 2006 and are the parents of five children. He is currently a manager at CyberFactor and has worked in the finance industry for more than two decades. Prior to being made bishop, he served in the Church’s Sunday school leadership and youth ministry. Bishop Johnson was also a missionary in Argentina and speaks Spanish fluently.

The Church of Jesus Christ has a lay ministry. Bishops and other local leaders are volunteers and serve in addition to family, employment, and other community responsibilities. A bishop typically serves for five years. Members do not generally request specific positions. Instead, local leaders extend assignments after seeking guidance from the Lord through prayer. After Johnson expressed his willingness to accept this new calling, his name was presented to the Peachtree City congregation for approval.

The Peachtree City congregation holds worship services on Sundays at 9 a.m. at 101 S. Peachtree Pkwy. Meetings are conducted in both English and Spanish with translators available. Visitors are always welcome.
