Ronald Kent Gorland, aged 80 years, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at Peachtree City, GA. He was born on June 24,1944, in Miami, FL to Frank and Maja. A decorated military combat veteran (Vietnam) and successful international businessman, Ron called many places home, including Florida, Kansas, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Hong Kong to name a few. He served as an executive for major international corporations, including Mellon Bank, RJ Reynolds and Blount, Inc. In 2004, he returned to Miami Springs to serve his hometown as Assistant City Manager and City Manager. He later retired in Peachtree City, where he fulfilled his time with watching sports, birdwatching, and enjoying getaway trips with his wife, Trish. A sophisticated, global and family man, he found enjoyment in the simple things: hearty meals, movies, music, fast cars, the ‘Noles, boat shoes, and apple pie. Compelled by duty, he led by example: reserved, proud, humble and accomplished. Ron was truly an example of words to live by, as he went calmly amidst the noise and haste and guided all those around him to strive for integrity. He made all who he worked with and loved feel special. He is preceded in death by Frank (father), Maja (mother), Thomas (brother). He is survived by wife Patricia neé Jones; sisters Irene Heckert and Barbara (Norman) Andresen; children Christopher, Patricia Maja, Ryanne, and Sky; and Granddaughter Sivale; and many nieces and nephews. His services will be held in private at Pretty Place, North Carolina. Donations to the Wounded Warrior Project are requested in lieu of flowers. Ron/Papa/Dad was a very special man full of character and life. He is profoundly loved and will be dearly missed.
