It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carey Dawson Trice on June 16, 2024, at the age of 79. He passed away peacefully in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Carey was born August 26, 1944, in Barnesville, Georgia to the late Benjamin Curtis Trice and Gladys Murray Trice. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane Clark Trice, to whom he was married for 53 years.
He is survived by his son Michael and daughter-in-law Dana Trice (Wyatt); his son Matthew and daughter-in-law Allison Trice (Mason and Addelaide) and his grandson Caleb Trice. He was a loving father and grandfather, beloved member of his church and a cherished friend.
Carey attended Milner High School and later majored in Business Administration at Georgia Southern University. He is a Vietnam veteran who served four years in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller.
In Florida, Carey worked as a sales representative for Hallmark Cards during the 1970s. He later founded his own company as a manufacturer’s representative in the industrial plastics industry, where he spent the remainder of his career. He retired in 2008.
Carey was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville, GA. Later in life, Carey taught a Sunday School class at New Hope until his passing.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Chapel in Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville with Pastor Dan Akins and Pastor Hugh Kirby officiating. Carey will be laid to rest at Lamar Memory Gardens in Barnesville, Georgia following the service.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
