Whitewater High’s Paul Collins cemented his legacy as one of the best volleyball coaches in state history with his 800th career win.

The landmark win came on September 7 with a triumph over Newnan High. Collins is just the fourth coach in state history to hit the milestone, and he is the first to accomplish the feat while only leading public school teams.

In his first year leading the Wildcats, Collins is no stranger to the county. A large chunk of the 800 came during a dominant run at Sandy Creek High from 2001 through 2015. His Patriots went to the finals five times and Final Four 10 times, winning state championships in 2008, 2011, and 2012.
