Fayette Student Repeats National Math Win

The Actuarial Foundation announced winners of this year’s, “The Hardest Math Problem Student Contest,” and Andrew Cooke from Crossroads Christian School in Tyrone placed second nationally among eight grade students.

This is a repeat win for Andrew as he took second place nationally among seventh graders last year.

The Hardest Math Problem Student Contest is sponsored by The Actuarial Foundation; Scholastic, the textbook publishing company; and the New York Life Foundation.  The contest requires students to provide a mathematically correct answer to the contest problem and a compelling written explanation of their reasoning to reach the answer.

Andrew is the son of Lois and David Cooke of Fayetteville.  Andrew’s math teacher at Crossroads is Mrs. Amy Tai.
