Every kid loves recess, but every playground isn’t built for everyone to enjoy. Peeples Elementary 3rd graders visiting Shaylen Dixon’s enrichment class focused on building a playground any kid could enjoy.

Students were tasked with designing a 3D model for a proposed playground accessible to all students. Along with following a budget, they wrote a letter explaining why their design should be built. The goal was for the Rockets to learn the importance of budgeting, fluidity in adding and subtracting and real-life application of the skills, valuing recess equipment, and respecting peers with different needs than their own.
