Total test-confirmed cases statewide: 8,818, which is 1,504 more than the previous day’s total of 7,314, an increase of 20.5%. This represents the single largest single-day increase so far in the pandemic.
Statewide deaths: 329, an increase of 100 fatalities over the previous day’s total of 229, which is 43.6% higher than the report one day earlier. (Yesterday’s increase was 18 new fatalities, an 8.5% increase.) This represents the most deaths in a single day in Georgia so far in the coronavirus pandemic.

That compares with 49 newly hospitalized patients April 6, an increase of 3.8% over the previous day.
