Newnan just gained more help in making it a better, cleaner place to live.
Sustainable Newnan is a new group formed in December under the leadership of Jamie Damaschke, who recently moved to Newnan and set up her business, Focused Lyfe, near Court Square.
“I noticed that we are pretty much the only company in the downtown business district that is recycling,” said Damaschke. “I truly believe that as business owners we have an ecological and moral obligation to our community to recycle non-perishable waste.”
With 13 original members and a growing roster, Sustainable Newnan will coordinate efforts with Keep Newnan Beautiful to educate and encourage greater participation in recycling both in the downtown business district and throughout Newnan and Coweta County.
Sustainable Newnan will “Adopt a Street” and keep it clean of debris. This volunteer opportunity is open to all individuals, families and organizations via the KeepNewnanBeautiful.org website.
Residential recycling is free for all Newnan residents. Call Waste Industries at 770-474-9273 for delivery of a free recycle bin. Recycling guidelines can be found online at WasteIndustries.com and KeepNewnanBeautiful.com.
Sustainable Newnan welcomes new members who share the goal of keeping recyclable materials out of landfills and making Newnan an even better, cleaner place to live.
