A Peachtree City man has been charged with first degree vehicular homicide in the Sept. 27 death of a Tyrone man who was struck on Ga. Highway 74 North in Peachtree City.
Jay B. Marting, 38, of Chimney Sweep Circle, was charged with first degree vehicular homicide, DUI alcohol, failure to maintain lane, open container and a seatbelt violation, according to Fayette County Jail records.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Sept. 27.
The pedestrian was identified as 31-year-old Tyrone resident Daniel Thompson who died at the scene, according to Peachtree City Police Department spokesman Mark Brown in an earlier report.
Brown at the time said the collision occurred at approximately 1 a.m.
Brown on Friday said Thompson was struck while on the roadway in rainy weather.
The vehicle then left the road and overturned, Brown said.
Marting, the driver of the vehicle, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, Brown said.
