The resolution to more than two dozen entering auto incidents in Peachtree City spanning much of the month of August came Sept. 23 with the arrest of Kevin Taylor who recently moved to the city.
Kevin Lee Taylor, 26, of 100 Bentwood Court in Peachtree City, was charged with 26 counts of felony entering auto, according to Peachtree City Police Investigator Tim Pierson.
Pierson said the entering auto incidents occurred at residences between Aug. 10-28 in the Huddleston Pond area south of Ga. Highway 54 and primarily east of South Peachtree Parkway.
Taylor had moved to Peachtree City during mid-summer and was living with a girlfriend, Pierson said, adding that Taylor was also traveling back and forth to Alabama.
Pierson said a search warrant was issued on Sept. 21 based on information received. Taylor later confessed to all the entering auto charges during an interview.
Some of the items stolen from vehicles, all of which were unlocked, were recovered in the basement at Taylor’s residence, Pierson said.
Stolen items included cash and loose change, two iPads, two GPS units, a radar detector, sunglasses and a number of miscellaneous items, said Pierson.
Though Taylor initially maintained that he did not steal guns, Pierson said the investigation later revealed that a “Judge” handgun in one of the vehicles was subsequently found in shrubbery.
Law enforcement customarily cautions motorists about leaving vehicles unlocked and advises that items of value never be left in plain sight.
