The National Junior College Athletic Association has announced that the Peachtree City Tennis Center will host this year’s NJCAA Women’s Division III Tennis Championships this fall.
The event is scheduled for Oct. 22-24 and will include about 11 teams and 150 players “plus additional spectators, who will stay, dine and shop in Peachtree City,” according to a statement from the city’s Convention and Visitors Bureau.
A three-year contract was signed making Peachtree City the tournament host through 2017.
The NJCAA, the national governing body of two-year college athletics, announced this week that 17 sites that have been awarded to host nine of its 48 championships. The Peachtree City Tennis Center is the only site announced so far in Georgia.
After a January site visit and a recommendation from the body’s Championship Events Committee, the NJCAA board of directors approved the move at a recent meeting in Tucson.
The CVB and NJCAA are actively seeking sponsorships such as signage at the Tennis Center. Contact Jennifer Nirenberg at 678-216-0282 or jnirenberg@visitpeachtreecity.com for more information.
