A May 22 request to have a .423-acre site on Ellis Road rezoned from single-family residential to highway commercial (C-H) received unanimous approval from the Fayette County Commission.
Property owner Victor Clincy said the request would enable him to have the vacant lot zoned commercial. That lot is adjacent property owned by Clincy and is the current home to a day care center.
Having the property rezoned would also help facilitate a potential expansion project, Clincy said after the meeting.
The lone condition accompanying the vote required that Clincy provide a quit claim deed for the portion of the property that extends 40 feet from the center of Ellis Road.
The request was recommended for approval on a 4-0 vote by the Fayette County Planning Commission.
