A Jan. 8 traffic collision in north Fayette County resulted in more than injuries to one of the motorists involved. Officers at the scene found a quantity of Xanax and more than four pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.
Sheriff Barry Babb said 20-year-old Fayetteville resident Michael Lamar Clark was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of Xanax with intent to distribute. Xanax is a brand of anti-anxiety prescription medicine.
Babb said deputies on Jan.8 responded to a three-car collision on Ga. Highway 314 in unincorporated Fayette County.
Investigators arrived on scene to find a head-on collision which resulted in serious injury to Clark.
Babb said Clark was transported to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment.
“As investigators began to inventory Clark’s vehicle before it was removed from the accident scene, they discovered numerous items of contraband in the car,” Babb said. “They located approximately 4.2 pounds of marijuana, 83 Xanax pills and a 9mm pistol.”
Clark is still recovering at Atlanta Medical Center, Babb said.
