A Fayette County man faces multiple charges stemming from a Jan. 9 domestic incident and the burglary of a nearby residence.
Nicholas Manley, 26, of Deer Forest Trail in east Fayette County, was charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, false imprisonment, battery, terroristic acts and threats, two counts of burglary, criminal trespass and cruelty to children, according to arrest records.
Sheriff Barry Babb said while investigating an area burglary deputies received a call from a woman saying she and Manley had been involved in a physical domestic incident and that Manley had been involved in the burglary.
Deputies arriving at the Deer Forest Trail residence reported that Manley attempted to flee the residence through the back door but was apprehended, Babb said.
The suspect’s wife at the Deer Forest Trail residence told deputies that, prior to the burglary, she and Manley were in an altercation concerning her talking with her ex-boyfriend who was the victim of the burglary, Babb said.
Deputies were told that Manley after the altercation left the Deer Forest Trail residence and traveled to the ex-boyfriend’s nearby residence, allegedly to confront the man, said Babb. Though the ex-boyfriend was not at the residence, Manley allegedly kicked the back door in, entered the residence and stole several items, Babb added.
Manley then returned to the Deer Forest Trail residence where he held the woman against her will. She later escaped and called 911 from a neighbor’s house, said Babb.
Babb said deputies obtained a search warrant and found an iPad and Samsung tablet in plain view. Those items had been stolen during the burglary of the ex-boyfriend’s residence, Babb added.
Babb said all the items stolen during the burglary were recovered with the exception of a book and an elephant figurine, both of which according to the victim, were burned in the fireplace.
Manley was charged with a second count of burglary because he returned to the ex-boyfriend’s house a second time to steal more items, said Babb.
