Fayette County Retired Educators meets today, Nov.7 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church in the Family Life Center (gym). This is our Scholarship Auction meeting to raise money for a high school senior from one of Fayette County’s schools. FCREA annually gives a $1,500 scholarship to an aspiring educator. The program will feature auctioneer Patty Brown from The Red Belly Rooster Auction House here in Fayetteville. Bring a gift to be auctioned and have fun with us. Fayette County is home to over 1,300 retired educators, and all are welcome to attend our local meetings. Our group welcomes all administrators, teachers, parapros and others who receive their retirement from Teachers Retirement System of Georgia. Retired educators from other counties are also welcome.

Coweta County and its municipalities are developing an update to the Joint Comprehensive Transportation Plan and will be holding an open house to receive citizen input today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Coweta County Fairgrounds located at 275 Pine Road in Newnan.

Holy Trinity Annual Craft Bazaar is today from 9 a.m.  to 6 p.m.
A huge selection of handmade crafts including jewelry, wood working, Christmas decorations and many gift ideas. Food will include homemade tamales, chili, nachos and a variety of baked goods. Saddle up for St. Jude with Fayette County 4-H! Fall 2013 Tellabration is today from 3 p.m. to  5 p.m.  at the Peachtree City Library, Floy Farr Room. The friends of Peachtree City Library will sponsor the Southern Crescent Storyteller’s Tellabration of stories for all ages. Veterans of the Vietnam War will be recognized at Peachtree City’s 2013 Veterans Day Observance hosted by the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Dixie Wing. The program will be held during the flying museum’s third annual Veterans Day Open House from 9 a.m.-noon. The open house and program is free to the public.
The open house will begin at 9 a.m. with tours of the CAF Dixie Wing Historical Airpower Facility museum and workshop where aircraft are restored and maintained.  Volunteers will be on hand to answer questions regarding current projects and education exhibits.  A variety of vintage military vehicles and aircraft will be on display including the CAF Dixie Wing’s World War II and Korean War warbirds and the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation Viet Nam War-era helicopters.  Rides will be available for purchase in several aircraft.
Bombshells United and Music Alive, Peachtree City’s Official Ambassadors of Song, will perform classics from the 1960s and patriotic songs beginning at 10 a.m.. At 11 a.m., Maj Gen George Harrison, USAF, Ret. will serve as Master of Ceremonies for Peachtree City’s Veterans Day Observance.  Guest Speakers include Viet Nam War veterans Maj Gen Robert B. Patterson, USAF, Ret. and LTC Cliff Stern, U.S. Army, Ret.  Patterson was an AC-130 aircraft commander, while Stern was a UH-1 Huey helicopter pilot.

O Christmas Tea –  The Business Woman of Fayette and Coweta  will be having their annual event benefiting Community Welcome House, a safe haven from domestic violence. Community leaders, local artists and some hard working volunteers are coming together today to host the 7th Annual Chair-ity Event, a fundraiser for abused children living in the cottages at The Children’s Village at Christian City.  This popular event will be held in the ballroom at The Dolce Atlanta, on Aberdeen Parkway in Peachtree City. The downtown Christmas parade, tree lighting and carriage rides are today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Fayetteville.
