Simple Pleasures is proud to announce that artist and photographer Richard Scott Hill is the 2013 judge for its fourth annual photography competition at the Centre for Performing & Visual Arts of Coweta County in Newnan (www.thecentreonline.net).

The author of “Digital Photography, The Creative Process,” Hill is world renowned for his artistic works which are included in many museums, corporate and private collections including: the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, the Pushkin Museum of Art in Moscow, the Augusta Museum of Art, the Lamar Dodd Museum of Art in LaGrange, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Recife, Brazil, the Pensacola Museum of Art, the Chattahoochee Valley Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia.

Simple Pleasures is a juried photography competition open to amateur and professional photographers nationwide.
The theme of the competition is “Simple Pleasures” and is divided into three categories including:  “Life in Coweta County,” “Life in Georgia” and “Life in the World At Large.”  The definition of “simple pleasures” is open to the interpretation of photographers who enter the competition.  Both professional and beginning photographers compete on a level playing field in that judging is blind and therefore work is accepted and cash prizes are awarded based solely on the merit of the work submitted.

A large portion of the proceeds from this event will go toward the Paul Conlan Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide scholarships for Coweta County high school students desiring to pursue a career in photography.

The deadline for entries is August 25. For call for entries, see www.simplepleasuresfoto.com. The opening reception for Simple Pleasures 2013 is scheduled for September 29 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The show will hang through October 29 and conclude at a closing reception at the performing arts centre from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at which time the People’s Choice winner will be announced and Richard Scott Hill will speak.
