The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) like many corporations continues to look for ways to cut costs. Though no decision has been made, the USPS carrier annex that opened a few years ago on Ga. Highway 54 just west of Fayetteville is being considered for closure.
USPS Corporate Communications representative for the Atlanta District Michael Miles said Tuesday the closure of the Hwy. 54 carrier annex building is up for consideration and is being studied, though no decision on the issue has been made. There is currently no specific timetable on a potential closure, Miles added.
If eventually closed, USPS staff might consolidate with the Fayetteville Post Office, said Miles.
The carrier annex on Hwy. 54 that opened several years ago serves as a distribution facility and does not function as a customer service outlet.
