The Georgia Department of Transportation has selected a contractor to replace the Ga. Highway 92 bridge over the Flint River between south Fayette County and Griffin.

The contract was awarded to low bidder Gregory Bridge Company of Eatonton, Ga. in the amount of $3.43 million.

The work is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2014, according to the contract.

The project includes the construction of a .72 mile bridge and approaches on the Fayette-Spalding county line.

According to the DOT, the current bridge is “structurally and functionally deficient.”

The new bridge will have two 12-foot wide lanes similar to the width of the current bridge.
