A north Fayette County man faces multiple charges after threatening his wife with a gun and crashing into her vehicle as he left the residence. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Curtis A. Smith, 38, was charged with aggravated assault, battery, cruelty to children, making terroristic acts or threats, theft by taking, interfering with a 911 call, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, criminal damage to property and failure to stop at an accident with damages, according to Fayette County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brent Rowan.
Rowan said the incident occurred on Feb. 26 at the family’s north Fayette County residence where Smith, a convicted felon, got into an altercation with his wife. There were no injuries in the incident, Rowan said.
Rowan said the couple’s children were present when Smith took possession of a handgun that was likely stolen from his wife. Smith pointed the gun at her and threatened her, Rowan said, adding that he did minor damage inside the house and exited the residence after a 911 call was made.
Smith also rammed his wife’s vehicle as he was fleeing the property, said Rowan.
Smith was subsequently arrested on Feb. 29.
