New books are on tap for the media center at Hood Avenue Primary thanks to a $500 Books for Schools award from the Fayetteville Target.
The school’s media specialist Laura Tant and principal Julie Turner accepted the award that Target has been giving to schools across the country as part of their goal of giving $1 billion to education and reading by 2015. It recognizes schools that foster a love of reading, and those that encourage children and their families to read together.

Target has teamed with First Book, a nonprofit organization dedicated to putting new books in the hands of students nationwide, for the award. Each store will select one school as a recipient.

Hood Avenue Primary is proud to be this year’s recipient and thanks Target for its generosity in giving students the opportunity to enjoy new books that will take them on many wonderful learning adventures.
