The rides have stopped at Fun Spot America Atlanta, and now much of what remains inside the longtime Fayetteville amusement park is going to the highest bidder.

The former Fun Spot America property on Ga. Highway 85 is being cleared out through an online-only auction following the park’s closure. Bidding began Sept. 22 and closes Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m.

Bill Ramsey & Associates is conducting what it describes as a “total liquidation” of the Fayetteville park. The auction includes amusement rides, go-karts, arcade games, restaurant and office equipment, park infrastructure and maintenance equipment, memorabilia, and other items.

Among the items up for bid are bumper cars, bumper boats, kiddie rides, a 50-foot drop ride, and a carousel. The auction also includes dozens of arcade games, including classic 1980s machines, newer shooting games, and skee-ball games.

Potential buyers can inspect the property Monday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon. Additional inspections can be arranged by appointment before Oct. 12.

The auction is online only. Photos, additional information, and bidding details are available at bramsey.com.

Removal of purchased items begins Thursday, Oct. 15, and the auction company says an extended removal period will be provided for larger amusement assets.

It is the latest step in dismantling an amusement park that was part of Fayette County life for decades.

Fun Spot America announced in June that the Fayetteville park would permanently close following its final day of operation Aug. 2. As The Citizen reported at the time, the property had a much longer history locally, beginning as the family-run Dixieland Fun Park before later operating as Fun Junction USA. The Citizen

Fun Spot America purchased the park in 2017 and invested millions of dollars in the Fayetteville location in the years that followed. The biggest of those investments was ArieForce One, the 154-foot-tall Rocky Mountain Construction roller coaster that opened in 2023 and drew coaster enthusiasts from well beyond Fayette County.

ArieForce One will not be part of the auction.

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation acquired the coaster after Fun Spot closed, The Citizen reported earlier this month. Six Flags plans to dismantle and relocate ArieForce One to one of its parks, where it is expected to reopen during the 2028 or 2029 operating season. The company has not announced its new location.

The sale marks a stark turnaround from earlier this year.

In a February Business of the Week feature, Fun Spot Group Sales Executive Jennifer Martin told The Citizen that the Fayetteville park was working to remind local residents that it operated year-round while expanding corporate events, field trips, scouting programs, birthday parties, and other group business.

Four months later, the company announced the park would close.

An individual familiar with the decision told The Citizen at the time that the closure was driven by the Fayetteville park’s financial performance.

The property itself has been associated with amusement rides and family outings for generations. Under its earlier names, Dixieland Fun Park and Fun Junction USA, the park hosted birthday parties, school outings, family gatherings, and community events.

A 2017 Citizen feature described more than 20 attractions at Fun Junction, including go-karts, bumper boats, miniature golf, an arcade, the Screamin’ Eagle Coaster, and the Drop Zone.

Now, many of the rides, games, and other pieces of the park are available to buyers as the property enters its next chapter.

Fun Spot America has not announced future plans for the approximately 100-acre Fayetteville property.
