What could be more rewarding than playing a significant role in the lives of students in Fayette County? There are many great businesses in our community that invest time and energy to help our schools prepare the workforce of tomorrow. The Fayette Chamber recently hosted their annual Partners in Education Recognition Breakfast to honor organizations who have made outstanding efforts to help provide enhanced educational opportunities for Fayette students.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jeff Bearden was the featured guest speaker.
Wal-Mart of Peachtree City received the first 2011 Outstanding Partner of the Year Award. According to Bonnie Hancock, Principal of Oak Grove Elementary, “the management at Wal-Mart is always willing to help. Our staff is so appreciative of their partnership.” The second Outstanding Partner Award was presented to Grace Evangelical Church in Fayetteville. Angie Southers, Cleveland Elementary Principal stated, “Grace Evangelical Church has not only been a consistent source of support, it has continually increased its support through a variety of methods.”
The winner of the Outstanding School Partnership Award is McIntosh High School for their efforts to build strong business relationships in support of student academic progress.

The Partners in Education Program is a joint effort of the Fayette Chamber and the Fayette County Board of Education. The goal of the program is to provide an avenue for businesses to form partnerships with the school system that are beneficial to both businesses and schools. Partnerships can take many forms and range from monetary contributions and in-kind donations to sponsorships or mentoring students.
