A 14-year-old Peachtree City boy is in serious but stable condition after falling through the Plexiglas skylight of the gym at Braelinn Elementary School on Dec. 23. The boy was one of four Peachtree City males ages 14-17 on the roof when the incident occurred, Peachtree City police said.

Though additional charges are pending police have charged Devante Edward Jones, 17, and Carl Logan Williams, 17, both of Peachtree City, with criminal trespassing, minor in possession of alcohol and furnishing alcohol to a minor, according to Peachtree City Police Maj. Mike Dupree. The 14-year-old male and the 15-year-old male were charged with criminal trespass, Dupree added.

Dupree said that at least one of the younger males had been furnished with alcohol.

Dupree said the incident occurred during the mid-afternoon hours of Dec. 23 when the four males were trespassing on the roof of the Braelinn Elementary School gym on Robinson Road in Peachtree City. At one point the Plexiglas skylight gave way and the 14-year-old fell 25-35 feet onto the gym’s concrete floor, Dupree said.

Lt. Mark Brown said though the juvenile was seriously injured, he was able to make his way to a door.
Dupree said the 17-year-olds drove the injured juvenile to Piedmont Fayette Hospital where he was evaluated and later transported to Egleston Hospital and then to Scottish Rite Hospital where he is currently listed in serious but stable condition, Dupree said.

An investigation by the city’s Criminal Investigations Division is continuing.
