If you love looking at old homes and historical buildings, the newest exhibit at the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife Museum will be right up your alley. The Architectural Alphabet will both educate and enlighten visitors in a fun and creative presentation.

From A to Z, the exhibit showcases photos and vintage artifacts that illustrate various elements of building design and structure. Each letter of the alphabet represents a different architectural element. See the large size of an antique key; nails hand crafted and used in the construction of the Historic Fayette County Courthouse, and unusual elements including Sawtooth shingles and a lovely Oriel window. Learn what famous architect had a hand redesigning a local home.

Visitors will discover the wonderful and varied elements that create our many beautiful, vintage structures.  Exhibit designer Deborah Riddle elaborates, “We have such a wealth of built environment here in Fayette County and we are celebrating all those small and interesting elements that make each style so special. It is the sum of all the small parts that make each home or commercial building unique; its own personality if you like.”

The exhibit will be on display through the summer. The Holliday-Dorsey-Fife Museum is located one block west of the Downtown Square in Fayetteville and is open Thursday-Saturday from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Find them on Facebook for more info.
