Artists of all ages are invited to create their best chalk artwork for the Fayette County Chalk Art Festival, scheduled for May 14-15 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Lee Street in downtown Fayetteville.
This free event encourages all artists to express their creativity by chalking out their works of art on the pavement of the Fayetteville Square. Participants will be assigned a chalk-block in which to create a unique work of art. Come out and express your creativity at this fun community event.
One box of chalk will be provided for each participant. Artists are welcome to bring their own materials to add variety (i.e. charcoal will give you a black color, chalk pastels will make it brighter/more vivid, etc.). Participants may bring their own chalk. Chalk must be water-based. If you choose to bring your own materials, only water-soluble materials are permitted. Permanent media are prohibited. All supplies must be presented at check-in for inspection. Creativity is encouraged, but the art must be appropriate for viewers of all ages. Artists will be given 1 (one) 8×8 space in which to create their work. This event will be held in conjunction with the Taste of Fayette event so we encourage everyone to stop by and watch the art unfold.
There will also be a dedicated “Free Zone” for children 5 and under (and their caregivers) where they can join in the fun. Chalk will be provided for this space also.

Walk-up artists will be permitted on a first-come, first-serve basis on the day of the event.
