Oak Grove Elementary wants the world to know about special education pre-k teacher Tracy Waits. Waits has been nominated for the Hidden Heroes: Honoring Leaders Worth Imitating campaign hosted by the Georgia Leadership Institute on School Improvement (GLISI), and you can help make her a big winner.
Oak Grove Principal Chris Riecke called Tracy an advocate for her students who does everything she can to meet their needs.
“Tracy Waits is an amazing teacher. As a leader within our building, she is always looking for ways to take her pre-k program to the next level,” said Oak Grove Principal Chris Riecke. “Students and parents love her, and she makes a difference every day she walks into our building. She brings value to Oak Grove and the surrounding community each and every day.”
The nomination for Tracy reads: “Every minute of Mrs. Waits day is worthy of imitation. Mrs. Waits has a gift to make every minute of each child’s day shine with love, joy, and the spark of learning. The classroom includes students with various abilities and Mrs. Waits makes each child feel as if they are the only learner in the room. Each child has the same high bar of love and attention. She is a fierce advocate for what each child needs and makes sure that each child is getting a language rich setting that sets them up for school success.”
Each year the GLISI opens the campaign to highlight education leaders who may not receive the recognition they deserve for their tireless work. Voting is open now and goes through November 29, and the entries with the most votes receive cash prizes and will be featured across GLISI’s social media.
