With dozens of nationalities a part of their school community, the Peachtree City Elementary Cultural Fair is a special way to honor the school’s diversity and learn about the world from family and friends.
Organized by ESOL teacher Shelly Jones, the event that represented 17 countries featured interactive cultural displays showcasing food samples, artifacts, traditional crafts, information boards, books, and more. Each country was hosted at a uniquely-themed table, offering attendees a chance to experience customs and traditions from around the world — all under one roof.
To engage young learners, every student received a “passport” upon arrival. As they visited each country, they collected flag stickers, symbolizing their journey around the globe. The interactive experience encouraged students to explore, ask questions, and embrace the diverse world around them.
A highlight of the evening was the dazzling Red Carpet Cultural Fashion Show, where 47 participants proudly wore traditional clothing from their respective cultures. From vibrant saris to embroidered tunics, the fashion show celebrated the beauty of cultural expression and identity, earning enthusiastic applause from the crowd.
Jones loved seeing the school community come out and enjoy the fun.
“The Cultural Fair was a true celebration of unity in diversity, fostering curiosity, respect, and inclusion. The event was made possible thanks to the collaboration of students, families, and staff, all working together to create a meaningful, memorable experience for the entire school community.”
