Michael Heekin is the friendly face you often see handcarrying your donations into Clothes Less Traveled (CLT) in Peachtree City. But behind that warm smile and his favorite “you dropped your pockets” joke is someone who quietly helps keep this nonprofit mission moving forward.
CLT is more than a thrift shop — it’s a community engine. The nonprofit reinvests the proceeds from donated goods into grants to over 50 local charities, offers scholarships to students, and provides voucher programs to help neighbors in need. (Clothes Less Traveled Thrift Shop) Their model isn’t just about selling items — it’s about turning generosity into lasting impact. (Clothes Less Traveled Thrift Shop)
At the donation door of CLT, Michael is a key connection point between donors and the organization. He welcomes people dropping off clothes, furniture, and household items, ensures their generosity is handled with care, and helps make the donation process smooth. His humor and outgoing personality put people at ease — whether he’s joking or simply making small talk, many people know him because he teased, “You dropped your pockets.”
Before joining CLT, Michael worked at the Peachtree City Publix, where he honed his customer service skills and everyday rapport with neighbors. Now, he brings that same approach to CLT, treating every donor interaction as part of the broader mission.
Michael loves making people smile — and in doing so, he’s making CLT more than a thrift shop. He’s helping it be a welcoming point for giving, caring, and community connection.
Michael — thank you for making the giving process personal, joyful, and friendly. You are a wonderful example of how small actions build a stronger community.
