The Citizen continues its mission to highlight the best and brightest athletes in our community with our Athletes of the Week feature, proudly sponsored by Mahaffey Linkous Orthodontics. Each week, we celebrate the hard work, dedication, and achievements of student-athletes across local high schools. During the summer months, we’ll also feature student athletes from community leagues.

This week, we’re proud to feature these athletes:

East Coweta High School
Jemison Hawkins
Volleyball

Jemison Hawkins is a top performer for East Coweta Volleyball, playing a key role in both the team’s defense and serve receive. Her leadership on the court earned her a spot on EC’s team leadership council this season.

Fayette County High School
Jahsiah Battle
Football

Jahsiah Battle has proven himself as a true leader for the Tigers, playing with intensity on every snap. He never leaves the field—contributing at running back, defensive back, and as a returner on special teams. Against McIntosh, he tallied over 50 return yards, 50 rushing yards, 10 tackles, and played 75 of 120 snaps.

Gracey Mustain
Softball

Senior Gracey Mustain is off to a tremendous start for the Lady Chiefs. She currently holds a .557 batting average, with 8 hits and 3 doubles early in the season. “She provides tremendous leadership on and off the field for our squad,” said Coach Pou. “Thank you, Gracey, for all you do for the Lady Chiefs Softball Program.”

St. Mary’s Academy
Giselle Cornejo
Cheerleading

Sophomore Giselle Cornejo is a captain of the cheer team at St. Mary’s Academy and leads with dedication and heart. Her commitment to building a strong, unified squad is helping shape the future of the program.

Starr’s Mill High School
Livi Irwin
Softball

Junior catcher Livi Irwin is dominating early in the season with a .591 batting average, 1.182 slugging percentage, 3 home runs, and 18 RBIs. Defensively, she’s just as sharp—throwing out 8 baserunners in her first 8 games behind the plate.

Trinity Christian School
Anna Aycock
Softball

Senior Anna Aycock has made a powerful start to the season as Trinity’s starting second baseman and backup catcher. A leader on and off the field, Anna combines her strong Christian values with a standout stat line: .545 batting average, .643 OBP, 7 stolen bases, 5 runs, 6 hits, 3 RBIs, .818 slugging, 1 double, and 1 triple.

Chattahoochee Gold – Peachtree City
Mary Plant
Masters Swimming

Olympic legend Mary T. Meagher—now Mary Plant—continues to live up to her nickname “Madam Butterfly” at 60 years old. A resident of Peachtree City, she recently broke the Masters World Record in the women’s 60–64 age group 200-meter butterfly. Her achievements continue to inspire swimmers of all ages.
