The Sandy Creek High chapter qualified for SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference for the 18th consecutive year, earning two top 10 finishes along the way.

Emily Dykes ranked 8th in the nation in Pin Design out of 43 competitors. She earned a score of 92.23% and a Skill Point Certificate for proficiency. Her pin was one of the most popular designs in the annual pin trading between states, and she was even asked to autograph copies of her pin throughout the conference.

Jason Grant ranked 9th in the nation in Graphic Communications out of 13 competitors.

The trip also connected them with Sandy Creek alumni Amalie Rosales, who works for national SkillsUSA, and Diego Campos, who was there as an industry representative for Artera.

This year saw 18,000 attendees with 6,500 student competitors in 110 competitions in Atlanta. The weeklong conference consumed the entire Georgia World Congress Center in the largest annual workforce development showcase in the nation.
