John Arthur Penoyer, Jr. 60, of Peachtree City, Georgia passed away Friday, April 25th, 2025 due to complications from cancer. He was born on September 26, 1964, in Washington, D.C. to John Penoyer Sr. (Greenville, SC) and the late Ina Conner Penoyer.

John was an Engineer every day of his life. After graduating from Clemson University in 1989, he worked for several global companies including Ford, Panasonic, Airbus and lastly, DXC as a consultant. He did not work as an engineer; he was an engineer.

There was not enough time for the number of hobbies John took up in his life. He was passionate about anything with an engine, Clemson football, fishing, craft beer and bourbon, woodworking, traveling and the family and friends that shared in the adventures.

In 2018 John found out he had advanced neuroendocrine cancer. His doctor said, “I’ve never met a person who has found a way to persist and succeed in the face of illness in the way that John did.”  John was deeply proud to be Patient #1 in the first clinical trials for Actinium-225 in Baltimore. He may have been a patient; however, John never accepted any limits. To him, the illness was simply a science experiment with obstacles.

John found joy in celebrating, moments big and small, always in the close company of his friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Ivey Adams Penoyer; children Sarah Penoyer, Maureen Penoyer and John Penoyer III (Jack); stepdaughters Emily Giglio, Sarah Giglio and Gracie Giglio; and sister, Kathryn Penoyer Goodson and brother-in-law, Bruce Goodson. Besides immediate family there are many other special friends, and family that also shared in John’s extraordinary life and deeply feel his loss.

A service in celebration of John’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home, followed by a “Chancellor of Life Celebration” at the Peachtree City Taco Mac. Burial will take place at a later date.

The family requests that donations be made in his name to the Neuroendocrine Cancer Foundation at www.ncf.net

We welcome you to provide your condolences, thoughts, and memories on our Tribute Wall.
