Fayetteville, GA – March 25, 2025 – Fayette County 911 is proud to announce the launch of its new database designed to assist first responders in effectively addressing calls involving individuals with special needs. This initiative, made possible by Georgia’s Logan’s Law (House Bill 631), marks a significant step forward in ensuring the safety and well-being of all Fayette County residents.
Passed by the Georgia General Assembly in May 2021, Logan’s Law empowers law enforcement agencies to create databases that provide critical information to first responders when interacting with individuals who have special needs. While the legislation took effect in 2021, the implementation has been phased, allowing agencies to tailor their databases to meet specific community needs.
Fayette County 911 officially launched its Logan’s List database in 2023, enhancing a longstanding ability to accept voluntary medical information. This next step makes it easier for residents to add their details to the local database, and by integrating it into the department’s website, access is now more convenient for everyone.
“Our Logan’s List database provides 911 call takers quick access to critical details, enabling faster dispatches and ensuring responders are better prepared for special circumstances,” Chet Ripka, Operations Manager said.
The database will contain essential information to help first responders understand potential communication barriers, medical conditions, and other relevant details that may impact their response. By having access to this information, first responders can tailor their approach, ensuring the safety and well-being of the individuals involved.
“The newest means for citizens to provide Logan’s Law data to 911 ensures that critical information is readily available to responders, empowering them to act swiftly and effectively in emergencies. By making this information accessible, we not only enhance the safety and preparedness of our responders but also protect the well-being of every citizen in Fayette County, fostering a community that is stronger, safer, and more resilient,” said Katye Vogt, 911 Communications Director.
