Over the past decade, Yamaha employees have brought joy to more than 1,000 children through Coweta County’s local Angel Tree program. This year, Yamaha adopted 120 foster children across Coweta County, providing each child with multiple gifts through the Department of Family and Children Services.
“Each department took on a certain number of kids, and all of the gifts were collected in our front lobby, then loaded onto a box truck for distribution,” said Kristin Webb, Yamaha’s Manager of Communications and Social Responsibility. “All the gifts were wrapped and each child received their gifts in an individual bag. This was our biggest year yet in our 17-year partnership with Angel Tree.”
Yamaha also made a strong showing at the recent Christmas parade in downtown Newnan. About 25 employees and their families participated, donning their favorite ugly Christmas sweaters, Santa hats, and elf hats. They handed out glow sticks and candy canes to children along the parade route.
“Our float displayed various Yamaha products,” said Webb. “We wanted to showcase that you can have fun no matter where you are.”
The float featured a Side-by-Side, a four-wheeler, three different golf carts, and a WaveRunner. Soapbox cars from the Coweta Grand Prix, an event Yamaha sponsors annually, were also on display. A banner with a QR code provided information about the next Grand Prix in spring 2025.
In addition to holiday festivities, Yamaha donated a large truckload of food for One Roof Outreach’s annual Thanksgiving food drive. These canned and dry goods, gathered before Thanksgiving, will support needy families during the Holiday season.
Yamaha also facilitated the distribution of 25 bicycles to both Northside Elementary and Arnco Sargent Elementary through the All Kids Bike program. “Santa Claus joined us for the event,” said Webb. “These bicycles help kindergartners learn to ride, promoting a lifetime of physical fitness and enjoyment. We’ve helped secure strider bikes to 12 of the 13 Title I schools in Coweta.”
More than 200 children participated in the annual “Christmas with the Cops” toy distribution event, with Yamaha being one of the largest donors.
Inside the Newnan facility, Yamaha sponsors several holiday events for employees, including a large meal, a decorating contest, and an ugly Christmas sweater contest.
“At Yamaha, we want to invest in our community,” said Webb. “It’s important to our culture. We aim to do more than just make amazing products; we want to give back to where our employees live, especially during the holiday season.”
Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Company (YMMC) employs over 2,200 metro Atlanta residents who design and build recreational vehicles at its Newnan facilities. The plant in Coweta County, Georgia, manufactures all of the world’s Yamaha golf cars, Side-by-Sides, and most of its WaveRunners and ATVs.
