Southside Theatre Guild in Fairburn knows that the best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing out loud for all to hear. They will get audiences in the holiday spirit with their production of “Elf Jr.,” starting on Friday, Dec. 8.

The story is familiar to anyone who has seen the classic film starring Will Ferrell. Buddy the Elf has lived at the North Pole since he was a baby, but when he finds out he’s a human and that his father lives in New York City, he goes on a rollicking adventure. While Buddy meets all sorts of characters in the Big Apple, his biggest mission is to get his father off of Santa’s naughty list.

Unlike the film, “Elf Jr.” is a musical and features songs like “Happy All The Time,” “World’s Greatest Dad,” and “Sparklejollytwinklejingley.” The production also features a top-notch cast of actors all under the age of 18. “Elf, Jr.” is directed by Lauren Helena who is assisted by numerous helpers making holiday magic come to life.

Tickets for “Elf, Jr.” are $11 and there are only two evening performances; Fridays, Dec. 8 and 15 at 8 p.m.. The Saturday and Sunday performances, Dec. 9, 10, 16, and 17 will take place at 2:30 p.m. The show runs approximately 90 minutes and is fun for all ages.
