0A local student put on a performance for the ages at the 2023 Griffin RESA Regional Literacy Days poetry recitation competition.
Facing students from seven other counties, Jaida Shields of Kedron Elementary won for the 3rd grade.
Piper Kendrick of Cleveland Elementary placed 3rd for the 5th grade.
Students are judged on stage presence, articulation, interpretation, difficulty of piece, and memory and accuracy. They can earn extra points for fluency, gestures and expression.
The Griffin RESA Regional Literacy Days Festival includes students from the school systems of Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding, and Upson counties.
