Doris Stidham Little passed away peacefully Friday evening, Oct. 14, at Manor Lake Memory Care in Dawsonville, Georgia.
She was born on May 24, 1928 to Luther and Olene Presnell Reeves in Luthersville, Georgia; their second child and the first daughter in a large family of 13 children.
On April 5th, 1949, she married Regie James Stidham, Jr., the father of her 3 children. After Regie’s death in 2001, Doris married Homer Little in 2002. He died in 2021.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Sonya Spake, Ima Knowles, Hazel Walker, Zeral Lewis and brothers, Bill Reeves, James Reeves, and Tyre Reeves.
Doris is survived by her children, Regie A. (Pamela) Stidham, Susan Stidham (Bruno) Zimmermann, and Jeanni Stidham (Phil) Walters, her two grandchildren: John E. (Amber) Stidham and Kristin Stidham (Pete) Davenport and four great grandchildren: Grace, Joel, Wendell and Josephine Davenport. Surviving siblings: Douglas Reeves, Janice Newlin, Karen Walls, Jenean Wilson and Pam Crowe along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Doris was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother. With unwavering faith, she dedicated her life to her Lord, prayer, bible study and caring for others. She was a charter member and life-long supporter of Ash Street Baptist Church in Forest Park, Georgia, where she faithfully taught Sunday School classes for over 60 years. An avid gardener and brilliant southern cook (who could forget her fried chicken!).
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City.
