August 10, 1936 – June 29, 2020

Yvonne E. Olson, 83, of Fayetteville, Georgia, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020. Yvonne was born on August 10, 1936, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and was raised in Gillis, Louisiana.

After attending Gillis High School, Yvonne met and married the love of her life, Air Force Staff Sargent Duane Olson, who hailed from La Crosse, Wisconsin. Wisconsin would be their home for several years until a job change took them to Minneapolis, Minnesota. They lived in Minnesota for many years and while there were blessed with a son, Larry D Olson. Wanting a warmer climate to retire to, Duane transferred to Fayetteville. Larry, their son, transferred soon after.

Becoming a nurse’s aide came natural to Yvonne who willingly shared her joy for life with those in need. Her years of service in several retirement centers were fulfilling, happy ones. Yvonne will be remembered for her friendly, fun-loving personality which went well with the interest both she and Duane shared in square dancing. They joined a square dance club and the rest is history. This hobby held their interest for the rest of their lives.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Larry D. Olson, Fayetteville, Georgia; one brother, Robert Caldwell, Sr. (Leeanna), Gillis, Louisiana; one sister, Barbara C. Baumgarten (Walter), Gillis, Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane L. Olson and parents, Clifford C. and Oma Seal Caldwell.

The family will welcome friends on Sunday, July 5, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Georgia. The funeral service will be led by Pastor Alex Moses and will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, on Monday, July 6, 2020. She will be laid to rest at Camp Memorial Park Cemetery, Fayetteville, Georgia, following the service.
