Susan Lorraine Haggerty

Our Beloved Wife and Mother (and career flight attendant) Susan Lorraine Haggerty took her last flight to be reunited with her Maker, on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2020. As per her usual punctuality, she departed right on the Lord’s time at 1751 hours.

Sue arrived in Heaven shortly after departure into the arms of her parents, grandparents and other loving extended family who were waiting for her at the Gates.

Family members who say goodbye at Sue’s departure are Sue’s Lovely Daughter Kimberly; Thomas, her Husband of 29 years and Sue’s Brother William who all reluctantly let her go from their embrace.

Susan Lorraine Haggerty was born in Wilmington, Delaware on December 7th, 1955 to Michael and Myrtle (Latham) Brezza. She spent her growing-up years in Claymont with her parents, grandparents and older brother William Brezza.

Sue graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Plant Science and left on the adventure of a lifetime when she received her first set of wings becoming a flight attendant for Delta Airlines in November 1978.

Sue continued to shepherd passengers around the world with Delta for 41 years. Sue loved her career, but especially the layovers and side trips with her many co-workers who became her close friends over the years.

In between flights, Sue started her family by marrying Thomas Haggerty on St. Patrick’s Day 1990 and giving birth to Kimberly Haggerty on February 15th, 1991.

Sue’s greatest joy was raising her daughter Kimberly with ultimate patience and care and showing Kimberly the world by taking her on great international adventures and indulging in their shared love of reading, musicals and plays, their favorite being Les Miserables.

Domestically, Sue and her husband Tom enjoyed taking scenic rides through Yellowstone and long trips into Canada on their Honda Goldwing. The love for her family was at the center of Sue’s heart and soul.

For all those who loved and cherished Sue, we have set aside two special times to say our public goodbyes. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday February 23, 2020 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Mowell Funeral Home located at 180 N. Jeff Davis Drive, Fayetteville, GA, 770-461-7641.

Sue’s final Delta flight will take her to her family’s plot in Gracelawn Memorial Park located at 2220 N. Dupont Highway New Castle, DE 19720, 302-654-6158.

There will be a brief 1-hour visitation at the Chapel at Gracelawn on Saturday, February 29 from 10 to 11 a.m. then a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate all memorials in Sue’s name go to Southwest Christian Care | swchristiancare.org | click on donate now.
