The replacement for the Lane Brown Gazebo in downtown Fayetteville is complete. The original gazebo served for 25 years. In a state of constant repair, Fayetteville Main Street made the decision to replace it with one at ground level, and with additional seating inside.

Long the centerpiece for many of the downtown activities, the new gazebo at the intersection of Ga. highways 54 and 85 is an 18-foot by 18-foot octagonal, with interior seating on six sides.

Downtown Development Director Brian Wismer said the original gazebo was constructed almost 25 years ago, and over the years, fell into a state of disrepair.

“We’ve been putting Band-Aids on it for the past few years,” said Wismer.

A feature of the new gazebo is its elevation. Rather than having to climb steps to access it, the replacement gazebo will sit on a concrete slab and is less than a foot off the ground. Wismer said an ADA ramp will be installed.

The cost of the project was $29,000, including demolition of the old gazebo.
