Coach Jason Newton received the NFHS Coaches Association 2017-18 Coach of the Year award for boys cross-country.
NFHS is the National Federation of State High School Associations.
Newton is a teacher at Peachtree City Elementary School, and he coaches varsity boys and girls cross-country and track at McIntosh High School.
The boys and girls swept the Georgia High School Association AAAAA state championships in the fall of 2017.
Both teams finished sixth in AAAAA in last spring’s state track meet.
More recently the cross-country teams had matching second-place finishes at the state meet.
