Margaret Ellen Turner, 86, of Brooks passed away October 23, 2018.
Margaret graduated in 1949 from Fayette County High School. She retired from Jackson Insurance after 30 years. Because of her love for reading, she was an instrumental part of the Margaret Mitchell Library and a founder of the Brooks Library. She also helped start the Fayette County Little League Association.
Margaret was a long term member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church. She was devoted to the Homebound Ministry and the Potter House, which she founded in 2007.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest. She is survived by her children, Dan and Kathy Turner of Fayetteville, Ellen and Guy Walls of Brooks, Barbara and Emory Breed of Moreland, and Matt and Sandra Turner of Brooks; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Mike and Dani Beekman and children, Turner and Brooks; Billy and Kati Raynes and child, Louise; Trey and Haley Thornton and children, Caroline and Charlee; Jason and Beth Mask and children, Cody, Kelsea, Khloe; Josh and Ruth Jones and children, Michael and Kayla; Kevin and Carly Otts; Josh and Kelly Green and children, Elizabeth and Shelby; and Tori, Madi, and Wyatt Turner; brother, Charles and Valerie Gilbert of Fayetteville; and extended family.
A funeral service took place on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 3 p.m. in the Overton Chapel of Fayetteville First Baptist Church, with Rev. Glen Stringham and Rev. Jack Miller officiating. Burial followed at Brooks Memorial Gardens. The family received friends on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
